  • Campy Fun From the 50's

First, it makes me sad that Apple doesn't know that Michael Wilding plays the blind musician and not Gig Young, who plays the boozy hanger-on in this movie. That being said, for those looking for a good example of an over-the-top performance and 50's kitsch, this is a great value. You get Crawford chewing the scenery (and performing in black-face!) and lip synching her songs (training videos for future drag queens!) while playing her usual tough-as-nails persona. Certainly not as great as Sudden Fear or as campy as Harriet Craig, but if you are a fan of Crawford this performance from one of her films of the 1950's will entertain.
