Dreamland

I really regret seing this till the end. The absurd and unengaging plot does not honer the cast

It's not so unreal per se . Most of it is centered in what we can recognize as reality; a crime noir. The dream-like quality is in the motives of the characters and the interplay between the elite, drug-addicted jazz musician and the strangelty ethical hit man (played with equal panache by Stephen McHattie, in a bravura performance). Juliette Lewis is also excellent. Set design and costumes are superb. A brilliantl noir genre film. Spoiler ahead: it was nice to see the wealthy pedarasts get their comeuppance at the end.
