The Corruptor is a good action thriller. New York's Chinatown District plays almost like a character itself within this film. Great performance by Chow Yun-fat, almost reminds me of his role in John Woo's The Replacement Killers, being almost like the same troubled, conflicted character in this film. Wahlberg shines too, being his 2nd action film since The Big Hit. Director James Foley, who is used to directing non action films, worked with Wahlberg for the first time in 1996's Fear, that also starred Reece Witherspoon, William Peterson, Amy Brenneman and Alyssa Milano. I enjoyed the film. Plus anything being filmed in New York, I checkout, because I love the city. The film DOES has it's cheesy & silly moments, though. The film's hip hop soundtrack is probably better than the movie itself (which IS NOT on iTunes) and the score composed by Carter Burwell is great (which IS on iTunes). Yun-fat and Wahlberg fans should check this one out.
